ABOUT THE
BUILD

The construction of Palm Jumeirah, by Nakheel Properties, was a key strategic development in the real estate sector of Dubai. The connection of primary infrastructure between the 'fronds' and the discrete ‘crescent’ was one of the many major challenges faced by the master developer.

Al Naboodah Construction Group played a key part in forming this crucial link. This project involved the construction of multiple service crossings under the seabed, at depths of up to 30m, from two of Palm Jumeirahs fronds to the crescent. Two 800m by 2.4m internal diameter concrete pipes were installed using micro-tunnelling machines to accommodate the primary power supply for the existing and future development. The length and diameter of these crossings is currently the largest single drive undertaken by the division. In parallel with the micro-tunnelling works, six 500mm High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) service ducts were installed using directional drilling techniques, to provide access for all the other primary utility services.
